(01) About We Need Facts

People can govern themselves well when they have accurate information.

We Need Facts is a nonpartisan citizen movement built on one belief: without accurate information, they can’t.

(02) The idea

That only works when everyone is looking at the same facts.

People look out for themselves and their families first. Once they feel secure, they look out for their communities too, because they can see how much they depend on each other.

In a country as varied as ours, no single group decides alone. Laws pass when enough groups find something they can agree on. That only works when everyone is looking at the same facts.

(03) What this movement is asking for

One standard.

The people who inform us, elected officials and outlets that claim to report news, should have to prove what they say.

01

Proof required

Elected officials, and outlets that claim to report news, should have to prove what they say.

02

Written into law

That standard should be written into law.

03

Shaped by the public

With the public involved in shaping it.

(04) Early draft

This is an early draft of the idea, and feedback is welcome.

We need facts. So does everyone.
